Classic science fiction film, widely regarded as a front-runner for best science fiction film of all time. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival. Like the best sci-fi films, it's not just the visuals but the ideas in the film that really this a great film.\n

If you haven't seen the 2002 remake directed by Steven Soderbergh (also called Solaris) it's good to watch and compare. If you liked this movie you should also check out 'Sunshine'.\n
