So You Think You Can Dance Canada - Season 2 Complete

"So You Think You Can Dance Canada" was a dance reality show and competition that aired on the CTV television network for four seasons. It was hosted by MuchMusic VJ Leah Miller. The series was based on the original American TV series "So You Think You Can Dance". Auditions for the first season began April 7, 2008 in Vancouver, British Columbia and ended in Toronto, Ontario on June 8, 2008. Season 1 of the show premiered on September 11, 2008 beginning with the Toronto auditions.



Season 2 auditions started April 4, 2009 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and were followed by more in Edmonton, Saint John, Toronto and finally in Montreal, Quebec on May 26, 2009. In the beginning of August 2009, at York University in Toronto, Ontario, 190 dancers were invited to participate in the callback auditions. During this final week of auditions, the number was first cut to 46 dancers (23 male, 23 female), and then to 20, by Jean-Marc Généreux, Tre Armstrong, Blake McGrath, and Luther Brown. These auditions included the following rounds, with cuts made after each:

1) hip hop choreography by Luther Brown ("Bottle Pop" – The Pussycat Dolls);

2) jazz funk choreography by Tre Armstrong ("Black & Gold" – Sam Sparro);

3) a samba choreographed by Jean-Marc Généreux and France Mousseau ("I Owe It All To You" – Eva Avila);

4) a group choreography round with the contestants assigned into groups, then asked to choose a CD from a box and to choreograph their own routine to the music chosen;

5) contemporary choreography by Blake McGrath ("On Your Porch" – The Format);

6) a final solo of the contestant's choice.



The first post-auditions show premiered on August 11, 2009. Repeats of the performance and results shows always aired a week later on MuchMusic.



Changes in the second season included the winner receiving $100,000 and the title of Canada's favourite dancer. Also, both the winner and runner-up received a 2010 Mazda 3 Sport
