Description
Smokey and the Bandit, 1977: Comedy, Romance, Adventure, Muscle Car,
Diesel Truck, Southern Americana, Complete lack of respect for the law EXTRAS: Torrent includes the two extras from the SE and the trailer from the PAL full-screen DVD. (I could not find the "damn dog back on the truck" and "plain white wrapper" scenes in the TV edits but absent from the theatrical and DVD releases.) Also includes Jerry Reed OST and "Bandit Rub" footage. Help locating the missing scenes and "Scumbum" TV-track is appreciated. "Smokey and the Bandit"'s casting of Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed and Jackie "The Great One" Gleason make it one of the ultimate "guilty pleasure" movies; and Reed's associated score elevates it way above the trite fluff it would have been. "Smokey" sold more tickets in the late 70s than any other film except "Star Wars", and spawned many sequels, imitations and TV-shows. It's just damned fun to watch. Video Source ..........: Special Edition WS HD-DVD Video Codec ...........: XviD, CQ2.75, LEM, Lanczos, DideesSixOfNine-HVS Frame Size ............: 720x480, 884x480 Anamorphic DAR FPS ...................: 23.976, 3492Kbps video, 5603Kbps total Quality of LEM-degrained HDrip to SE DVD? WAY superior. Audio 5.1: English: 640Kbps AC3 Special Edition HD. (SE DVD's is 448Kbps) Audio 2.0: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish - recovered from PAL DVDs and retimed from 25.000 to 23.976 so Jerry Reed doesn't sing like he has his balls in a vice. (How do you people in PALtopia put up with this?) ***NOTE***: This torrent is the ONLY place you'll find the original monaural soundtracks muxed with 23.976 widescreen anamorphic video and played at proper speed (*all* PAL DVDs of "Smokey" are sped-up and "tinny"), and *none* of the NTSC sources contain the monaural soundtracks). While the 5.1 is very crisp, certain sound-effects are missing from it, and the Trans-Am doesn't roar like a modified, big-block 70's muscle-car anymore. Thanks to the LEM filter, this release does not suffer from the horrible grain that smothers *all* commercial releases of "Smokey" (even the HD). Subtitles: English + CC, Spanish, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovenian, Swedish Sharing WidgetTrailer |
