Kristin Scott wordt onrechtmatig verantwoordelijk gesteld voor de dood van haar vader. Die was pas op pensioen gesteld als kapitein van een
brandweerdepartement. Omdat zij de enige vrouwelijke brandbestrijder is in haar brigade, lokt dit verkeerde reacties uit bij de andere
brandweermannen en daarom treedt zij af. Om zichzelf te bewijzen, gaat zij de uitdaging aan om de afmattende training te volgen als
smokejumper Dit is een onderdeel van de brandweerbestrijding die parachutisten vanuit vliegtuigen, rechtstreeks in de vlammen laat
springen om deze van binnenuit te bestrijden.

Kristin Scott is wrongfully blamed for the death of her father just prior to his retirement as a Captain with the fire department. Along with being the only female firefighter on her squad, this puts her at odds with the other members of her team and she resigns. To prove herself she tackles the grueling training of smoke jumping. This is a rugged type of firefighter who jumps out of airplanes directly into the flames.
