One of the most unique psycho-thrillers in years centres on Spanish star Luis Tosar, who delivers a sensationally disturbing performance as César, a Barcelona janitor fixated with the new tenant at an upscale apartment block. Director Jaume Balagueró co-directed [Rec], and the setting here is similar, but there's also a nod to the work of Roman Polanski in a provocative and intense tale of obsession. At night when Clara (played by Marta Etura, Tosar's real-life partner) is fast asleep, César sneaks into her flat - and into her bed - to feed his deranged fantasies. He intends to make her life a complete misery and woe betide anyone who threatens his meticulously laid-out master plan. The unusually plotted chills and a series of twists that spiral into chaos put Balagueró's creep-fest on the Hitchcockian side of dread.
