ABOUT THE BOOK
The Roman Empire's conquest of Britannia is under threat from within. Prefect Cato and Centurion Macro must uncover a traitor to prevent defeat. A messenger on the streets of Rome has been intercepted and tortured, revealing a plot to sabotage the Roman army's campaign against Caratacus, commander of Britannia's native tribes. A treacherous agent's mission is to open a second front of attack against them and eliminate the two Roman soldiers who could stand in the way. Unwarned, Cato and Macro are with the Roman army pursuing Caratacus and his men through the mountains of Britannia. Defeating Caratacus finally seems within their grasp. But the plot against the two heroes threatens not only their military goals but also their lives.


ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Simon Scarrow is a UK-based author, born in Nigeria in 1962 and lived there until his family fled the country during the Biafran war. He is now living in Norfolk with his wife, Carolyn, who runs her own copywriting business, and two sons. . He completed a master's degree at the University of East Anglia, and, after working at the Inland Revenue, went into teaching as a lecturer at City College, Norwich.
After developing a fascination for history thanks to a passionate Latin teacher. Fired by the knowledge gleaned from the exploration of Roman sites, he decided to write what he wanted to read - military page-turners about the adventures of the Roman army from AD 43 onwards.
He is best known for his "Eagle" series. This is Roman empire military fiction, starting with the second invasion of Britain, and continuing with subsequent adventures in every corner of the empire. The stories are told through the eyes of two centurions, Macro and Catog.


ABOUT THE READER
Jonathan Keeble combines his audio work with a busy theatre and TV career. He has featured in over 500 radio plays for the BBC appearing in everything from Shakespeare to Sherlock Holmes to Dr Who and is also the evil Owen in The Archers. Much in demand for his voicework, this ranges from playing Sir Christopher Wren in St. Paul's Cathedral to The Angel of Death in the film Hellboy 2, with stops at all points in between.
