Plucky Penny Hale kan haar geluk niet op als ze van kostschool af mag om bij haar
vader te gaan wonen, die weduwnaar is. Maar omdat Plucky's vader een vastgoedproject
is misgelopen, heeft hij zijn intrek moeten nemen in het souterrain. Dan besluit
Plucky Penny Hale haar vader te helpen en gaat op pad om een chagrijnige
projectontwikkelaar voor zich te winnen, die ze aanziet voor "Uncle Sam".
