Plot summary


This film is 98 minutes of jarring nightmare visions. The soundtrack feels constantly
rumbling with strange noises and a general sense of dislocation. The film constantly
disorients the viewer with tumbling images and strange vantage points preventing us
from ever getting a solid footing in the familiar rational world.

Kirati Nak-intanond and Sirawat Nak-intanond have put together a film which, on paper,
could be another ludicrous Thai ghost story that would lose any sense of meaning in
crossing over to the West. By sheer virtue of the strange atmosphere theyve concocted
for the film, however, I think that anyone willing to sit back and let this experience
wash over them will find themselves locked into the claustrophobic nightmare apartment
building stalked by a Phii Bop named Uncle Phibob. The fact that the character bearing
the name of what he is is never a matter for laughter or even speculation adds to the
almost Lynchian aspect of surrealism. The chapter headed backstories and the presence
of another, even more bizarre, Phii Bop whose presence is never fully explained makes
you feel you have dived into a nightmare realm which feels like we've already crossed
over into Hell.

We weave around rooms seeing things almost as if we, the viewers, are ghostly night
time visitors to a story that repeats itself. Fon, one of the main characters, tells
us stories and it never seems odd or out of keeping with the mood of the piece.

When true love never dies, and death is no longer the end of life.
What would you do if your loved one never wanted to depart... no matter how you
killed him? This is not just a romantic tale; it's a horrific love story in the heat
of the night.

The movie combines the northeastern Thai belief in "pee-pob" a flesh-eating spirit,
with modern-day domestic violence in Bangkok. In an old apartment, the death of a 14
year old school girl suddenly destroys everyone's life. Some people blame themselves.
Someone simply wants more blood. And when something comes back....
