Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Secrets by Danny Dover is an excellent read for both beginning SEOs and advanced SEOs. From a technical stand point, even if you know “everything there is to know” about SEO, you will most likely walk away with a lot of new knowledge from this book. Danny Dover goes into great details of many aspects of SEO, not just the actual optimization of a website. Topics include: SEO Tools, SEO Site Audits, SEO Conference “Need to Knows” – a little bit of everything is touched upon.

When buying this book, I was a bit hesitant due to the fact that technical books get out of date faster than any other genre of books. I wasn’t sure if the facts in the book would apply to today’s Industry situations (for the record, they definitely do). A lot of the topics covered in the book will be relevant for years to come, as much of the advice is on how to conduct yourself behavorial as an SEO, and what type of principles can lead to sales and on-going relationships with your customers.

While reading this book, make sure you have a notebook and a pen ready to go, as you will want to be taking notes often. I purchased SEO Secrets by Danny Dover for the Amazon Kindle, so taking notes and bookmarking multiple pages was a piece of cake. After finishing the book, I imported my saved notes onto my PC, edited them down to bite size pieces, and added relevant items to my SEO Checklists, Audit Checklists, and SEO Toolkits. I suggest you do something similar.

Another great aspect that Danny Dover goes into great detail on is pricing for SEO consulting. It’s always a tricky task to develop prices for web design, graphic design, and for search engine optimization due to the nature of the work and due to how young the industry is compared to most others. As long as you know where you stand in the Industry (ie: are you still starting out, do you have solid customer feedback, have you done SEO for large-scale clients, etc), his pricing guide will provide you with an accurate price range based on your experience, reputation, and over skill level.
