Description
Scrabble is a fun game to play, especially when you never have to drag out the board and hunt for an opponent. With the Scrabble crossword game from GameHouse games, you’re just a click away from a great game of fast fun. Pit your wits against any of the eight computer opponents, play with a friend or enjoy a solitaire game playing both sides of the board. GameHouse Scrabble is the real deal. It’s officially licensed from Hasboro, endorsed by the National Scrabble Association for home play and available for both Windows and Mac.
The program graphics are superb – a perfect, easy to read, on screen replica of the traditional Scrabble board game. You won’t sit twiddling your thumbs waiting for the computer to make a move because this program is fast! GameHouse Scrabble is based on the complete Merriam-Webster official Scrabble players dictionary – fourth edition, so it’s accurate. And you can access the dictionary yourself any time you need a little help. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to place your letters on the board. Just click on the square where you want to start your word. The square highlights with a direction arrow. You can cycle through all four directions or turn it off. When you place your word, it’s not necessary to drag your tiles to the board (but you can if you like). Simply click on each letter on your rack and they will place on the board automatically in the direction of the arrow. If you’d rather use the keyboard, simply type the word and watch the letters fly onto the board. This great feature makes play fast and easy, and takes care of the blanks automatically. Change your mind about a letter or word? Recall individual letters or all of your tiles before you click the play button. Either click on the take back button, use the keyboard command or drag letters back to your rack individually. Speaking of your rack, you can shuffle your letters or arrange them alphabetically instantly. You can either play Scrabble using the Classic untimed mode where you have access to hints if you want them, or you can play in Speed mode. Speed mode includes either blitz, a blazing fast game where you have 25 seconds to make your move (unused time rolls over to your next turn) or you can play in tournament mode. No hints allowed in tournament and the games are limited to 25 minutes each. If you need a refresher on the basics of Scrabble, simply pop up the instruction screen for basic rules and hints. This game is the best computer version of Scrabble I’ve ever played. I’ve played over a thousand games since installing the software. The program tracks and stores the number of games you’ve played, your high scores and even your best word. If you are interrupted during a game, no problem, the program remembers the game so you can pick up where you left off. [sAyer723] Sharing Widget |
