Sauguet - Sym #3 - Almeida, Moscow SO (1995) [Philidor; FLAC] (Size: 138.99 MB)
DescriptionHenri Sauguet first came to public attention after writing Darius Milhaud, who was so impressed with his work that he encouraged the younger composer to move to Paris. While there he studied with Charles Koechlin, and developed an affinity for ballets--ultimately writing more than 20. His four symphonies were written after WWII, during which he saw many friends killed (and helped shelter and save others). These works revealed a far more serious composer than any of his earlier music, but were published during a time when public performance, broadcast and recording was split between the 19th century classics, and serialism. It wasn't until within the last two decades that Sauguet's music has begun to be reevaluated. Transfers are made at 768 kBits/s, directly from the disc. Two bios enclosed.
