Saraswatichandra is a Gujarati novel by Govardhanram Madhavaram Tripathi set in 19th-century feudalism in India,[1] an author of early twentieth century from Gujarat, India. It is a widely read piece of Gujarati literature[2][dead link].



The novel was written over a period of 15 years, with the first volume being published in 1887 and the fourth one in 1902.[3]



The Hindi film Saraswatichandra, released in 1968, was based on this novel,[1][3] as is the 2013 television series of the same name .
