Well, another RTB SBD for everyone's collection. Sound is exceptional with crispy highs and good bass extension. The source tape is reported to be a low Gen archived to a DAT. There is no noticeable hiss and the mix is very nice with the audience just right in the background. Geddy's vocals has that "live" sound with a slight reverb. This show does not sound as good as the Oakland '92 nor the Charlotte '92 shows, but still enjoyable. This is the FULL show, unlike the partial SBD floating out there. This is an early RTB show and the band is still working out the kinks in the set. Many thanks to Claude Monet for the lovely garden impression for the front cover. Please do not buy, sell or distribute for profit. Help keep the spirit of trading alive. If you see this show being sold on E-bay, kindly inform the bidders they can have the show for free. Garden Road is a respectable boot in terms of sound quality. Its low range makes it sound crispy, but it gets better in some parts of the recording. Perhaps a little treble would have been necessary. Thus, “Force Ten” gives you the impression of an AUD since the instruments are somewhat distant; the bass is low in some songs, the keyboards and other overdubbing are louder or clearer than the drums. Likewise, it’s until “2112: Overture” that the guitar is right in front of you; there is a nice echoed note that hits you from one channel to the other. There is no surprise in terms of the setlist except that experiment of putting together “Spirit of Radio / 2112: Overture / Finding My Way / La Villa Strangiato / Anthem / Red Barchetta / Spirit of Radio (reprise)”. There is a cut after “The Big Money” where you notice a change in sound; in fact, the next song “Ghost of a Chance” is inferior in quality. In “Subdivisions”, there is an interesting miscue after Alex’s solo; I think it’s Neil who fails, but who cares! The same can be counted for Geddy striking a note before time by the beginning of “Show Don’t Tell” (mark 1:11, in case you are interested). (2008-03-27)
