Description Edumund Rubbra's First Symphony wasn't a youthful work, but written by a composer in his mid-thirties. As such, it shows a much greater control of form and a personal language than might otherwise be the case. It made a great stir at the time of its premiere, with its strong, dramatic profile--one that didn't fade in the light of his many subsequent symphonic works. Two bios enclosed. All transfers are made at 256 kBits/s, directly from the disc.
