Description
Back in 1974 Grange Calveley wrote and created the classic cartoon series, Roobarb. After he'd done that he quietly got on with the rest of his life. However after countless repeats of the original series the fan base had grown and grown. It got to the point where the only thing that anyone wanted to talk to him about was whether there were going to be any more episodes made. In the end he gave in.
So 30 years after the original series, and after checking that Richard Briers was still alive and able to do the narration, he wrote a new set of 39 original stories in association with A&B TV Productions. Animator and Roobarb fan, Jason Tammemagi, of the Irish company, Monster Animation & Design, was brought in to create the films. These new episodes have stayed faithful to their roots. The theme music is the same. Roobarb is still that mad-cap bundle of energy that he ever was. Custard is just as cynical as he was 30 years before. The Birds twitter still sounds like a mad cackle. And most importantly of all: the picture still wobbles.
