Het legendarische verhaal over de ervaren boogschutter Robin Hood (Russell Crowe), die in dienst treedt bij het leger van koning Richard om tegen de Fransen te vechten. Na de dood van de koning vertrekt Robin naar Nottingham, een stad die lijdt onder de corruptie van een tirannieke schout en torenhoge belastingen.
