Red Dragon è un film del 2002 diretto da Brett Ratner.
Il film è un prequel di Il silenzio degli innocenti (1991) di Jonathan Demme, ed è un remake di Manhunter - Frammenti di un omicidio (1986) di Michael Mann.
Un anno prima del film di Ratner era stato girato un altro film della saga, questa volta un sequel, Hannibal di Ridley Scott.

Will Graham si è ritirato dall'FBI in seguito alla ricerca e cattura tre anni prima del temibile serial killer Hannibal Lecter.
Will ha rischiato di morire e dopo una difficoltosa ripresa fisica e psichica ora vive in Florida con la moglie ed il figlio.
Gli viene richiesto un aiuto da un ex compagno dell'FBI per la sua spiccata dote di immedesimarsi nell'assassino sulla scena del crimine e per la sua sensibilità nel rilevare particolari tralasciati con facilità da altri al suo posto.
Questa volta si tratta di un serial killer di famiglie che viene chiamato il lupo mannaro poiché agisce durante il periodo di luna piena, manca poco tempo alla prossima luna piena e si teme per una nuova tragedia...


Red Dragon is a 2002 thriller film based on Thomas Harris' novel of the same name and featuring psychiatrist and serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. It is a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs.
The film was directed by Brett Ratner and written for the screen by Ted Tally, who also wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning The Silence of the Lambs.
It stars Edward Norton as FBI agent Will Graham and Anthony Hopkins as Lecter, a role he had, by then, played twice before in The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal.
Ralph Fiennes, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Mary-Louise Parker, Emily Watson and Harvey Keitel are also featured.

In his townhouse in Baltimore, psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins) hosts a dinner party.
Lecter is later visited by Will Graham (Norton), a gifted FBI agent, with whom he has been working on a psychological profile of a serial killer who has removed edible body parts from his victims, leading Graham to believe that the killer could be a cannibal.
During the consultation, Graham discovers evidence implicating Lecter in the murders.
Lecter attacks Graham, almost disembowelling him, before Graham overpowers Lecter.
Lecter is sentenced to life imprisonment in an institution for the criminally insane while Graham, traumatized by the experience, retires.
Years later, another serial killer, nicknamed the "Tooth Fairy," appears.
He stalks and kills seemingly random Southern families during sequential full moons.
Hoping to capture the killer before his next attack, Special Agent Jack Crawford (Keitel) seeks Graham's assistance.
The death of another family weighing on his conscience, Graham reluctantly agrees.
After visiting the crime scenes and speaking with Crawford, he concludes that he must once again consult Dr. Lecter...
