Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Movie on Record

This record was released by Columbia Records back in 1981. Before there were
DVD's, videotape, or computers everywhere, this was the only way to experience Raiders of the Lost Ark outside of a theater.

The production on this record was top notch and features the actual dialoge,
music, and sound effects from the movie condensed into a 45 minute sonic
journey. It was so good it won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album of 1982.
Another interesting note is that this production did not feature any narration,
which was common of similar story records of it's time. The producers made the
decision to let the dialogue, music, and soud effects do all the "narration" for
the story... which worked beautifully.

There is a version of this record floating around the internet that is very
poorly recorded. It has no dynamic range and you can hear the mechanics of the
record player throughout listening. This is personally recorded by myself using
my copy of the record and a direct drive turntable with a good Shure stylus and
has plenty of dynamic range. Enjoy!
