Film #11 of 70 in the RAF War and Peace Film Collection (1939 to 1965) I have been looking for a all British collection of original Royal Air Force (RAF) aviation films such as this for a long time. Not being able to find it from one source I decided to assemble it from as many web sources as I could and organize it in chronological order. Many of these films are in the Imperial War Museum's film collection. Files are listed in chronological order. See this reference link back to the topic.http://thebox.bz/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=8593 11_Target for Tonight (1941) B&W RUNTIME:22:56.52 min FILESIZE: 270 Mb CODEC: DivX5 512x384 25fps 684kbps AUDIO: MPEG-1 Layer 3 44.1Khz 105kbps A widely distributed film seen by cinema audiences in UK and abroad. This film is widely regarded as one of the greatest British aviation films of WW2. Re-enactment of an early Wellington bomber raid on Nazi Germany concentrating on one aircraft in particular - F for Freddie. No actors were used as genuine Wellington pilots and crew recreate the mission for the cameras. Scripted and directed by Harry Watt, the film was voted 'Best Documentary' by the National Board of Reviews in 1941 and went on to win an honorary Academy Award in 1942. Produced by Crown Film Unit This collection includes a mixture of newsreels, public information films and training films for airmen. They document things when they occurred and provide an insight into the Service's mindset of the time. These films are focussed on clear objectives and designed to convey information and/or to educate/train audiences on specific subjects. This contrasts with the retrospective view of historical events that modern documentaries and dramatic films provide using in some cases the same film footage. =============================== Some of the other rather spiffing shows available now and always if you signup free @ www.TheBox.bz: Comedy: The Office, Peep Show, Coupling, Chef, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses, The IT Crowd, Brass Eye, Nathan Barley, Young Ones, Monty Python, Blackadder, Alan Partridge, Father Ted, Coupling, Little Britain, Mr Bean, Extras, Green Wing, Mighty Boosh Drama: Casualty, Holby City, The Bill, Hustle, Skins, Shameless, Ashes To Ashes Entertainment: Faking It, Derren Brown, Scrapheap Challenge, Strictly Come Dancing, Wife Swap Game/Quiz Shows: Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Have I Got News For You, Deal Or No Deal (UK), Q.I.
