La storia è ambientata in una chiesa di Los Angeles. Un prete (Donald Pleasence) invita il professor Howard Birack (Victor Wong) e i suoi studenti a investigare su un misterioso cilindro presente nella cantina di una chiesa abbandonata. Il cilindro contiene un liquido verde costantemente in movimento, che - viene in seguito scoperto - è l'essenza pura del male. Durante la notte, esso inizia ad impossessarsi degli studenti uno ad uno e li utilizza contro i sopravvissuti. Dopo aver ricercato un antico testo trovato accanto al cilindro, si scopre che la sostanza liquida è in realtà Satana in persona.



Il testo rivela anche che Satana è il figlio di un anche più potente forza del male, un Anti-Dio, che è intrappolato in un'altra dimensione. Satana s'impossessa di uno degli studenti e prova a portare suo "padre" nel loro universo attraverso un portale dimensionale, rappresentato da uno specchio normale..................
