ASTRONOMY DOMINE (6:27m) 2. CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE (8:04m) 3. INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE (12:06m) 4. SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN (7:57m) 5. A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (11:48m) This comes from a low generation cassette, with a MD generation, and it sounds as good as the 1st gen. original comments: This is gem of a recording that I have mistakenly ignored for quite some time. Several years ago I got this recording on cassette and remember thinking it was an unusual show. Later I transferred this onto Minidisc, but for some reason after playing the beginning of the show, I had dismissed the recording thinking that it wasn't very good. After comparing my recording to that from another trader, I discovered that mine was in fact better quality, and yet the trader I had compared it to was supposed to have been from the Master tapes. It was certainly the same source as identified by noises in the crowd around the taper. It is only the beginning that is substandard quality, as the quality improves significantly during the recording. The introductions by the band do sound very distant, but the actual music played comes across much clearer, and some parts of the recording are actually really superb, especially with the hiss removed without leaving any alien noises in the background. Careful with that axe Eugene is very interesting after the vocal bit, and Interstellar Overdrive is exceptionally clear with some nice keyboard work by Rick Wright. -gotta_be_crazy Sharing Widget |
