Papers
Your personal library of research

Papers is an excellent tool to search for journals and research papers and keep them well organized on your Mac. A must for scholars and researchers. Papers was built specifically for everyone working with journals and research papers as a means to search for more documents and keep them all well organized. Papers 3 helps you collect and curate the research material that you're passionate about. From citations to search, Papers will improve the way you find, organize, read, and cite. You'll immediately notice the elegant interface, with its list of papers, groups and search engines on the left, search results and documents in the center, and a right-hand side dedicated to Help tools. Papers is particularly good at handling PDF documents. Papers integrates dozens of research engines such as ACS Portal, Citeseer or Google Scholar. You can also add more as plug-ins. To keep your journals organized, you'll find Papers is not unlike iTunes: smart groups can be created so that you don't have to worry about what papers are stored in what folder. The Help section in Papers is particularly thorough and having the forums integrated into the interface with tips and tricks available any time is really useful. The Help center itself provides lots of guides to fully master the program. You'll be able to open multiple journals or search results in tabs, add comments and notes and even share documents easily with other people. Mny efforts have been aimed at making the importing and exporting of PDF documents much easier. However, some users may find that syncing with iPads is still very temperamental.

What's new in Papers 3
The first thing you'll notice when starting Papers 3 is the new stunning user interface. One of the most important changes in Papers 3 is however almost invisible: how easy it is to sync your library between your computers (Macs or PCs) and your iPad and iPhone. We've taken a hard look at the whole application and built cloud based syncing as a core feature to all of Papers for Mac, Windows an iOS. Papers now uses Dropbox instead of a local wireless network for syncing, making it easier to get access to your library both at home and in institutional networks (other cloud based syncing services in addition to Dropbox to follow).

A fresh, new user interface: the new Papers experience is simpler and more organised.
Navigation modes to keep your work and thoughts organized.
Relevant article suggestions based on the content you are reading.
Automatic PDF download when you import articles.
Better than ever metadata discovery and matching.
Stay connected: discover tweets and posts about the articles you are reading.
View and annotate supplemental files directly within Papers 3.

What's new in version 3.2.3 Released 13-Oct-2014

Adds a paper PubMed ID field to the Info inspector tab on the right sidebar.
Filtering options when using the Sources tab are now more visible in the left-hand sidebar.
Resolves a crash that would occur if a user did not have a specific font installed on their Mac.
Addresses a bug that meant when attempting to search for or add new keywords to a paper in the library, some keywords did not appear in the "Add Keywords" popover in the Overview inspector.
Improves general app stability.
Menu toolbar fixes when running Papers 3 for Mac in fullscreen mode on OS X 10.10.
Annotation controls no longer appear for library items that cannot be annotated.

Compatibility with OS X 10.10 Yosemite

The "Page Thumbnails" view mode on the Preview pane and Reader has been temporarily disabled when running Papers 3 for Mac on OS X 10.10. This avoids a bug introduced in OS X 10.10 with PDF rendering that would cause Papers 3 for Mac to crash otherwise.
When running on OS X 10.10 Developer Preview 6 or later, automatically scrolling to a specific annotation on a paper using the sidebar inspector will instead scroll to the top of the page that the annotation is on (manually scrolling to annotations is still possible as a workaround). This avoids a bug introduced in OS X 10.10 with PDF rendering that would cause Papers 3 for Mac to crash otherwise.

Tested on 10.9.5
