The Oxford Dictionary application works fine in Windows 8.
1) Unpack the downloaded compressed .rar file.
2) Google "MSVCR71.dll" and download the tiny zipped file. Add the unzipped .dll file to the application folder in order to make the application run.
3) Double click on the application called swhx.exe - - - that's the OED program.
4) Enjoy!
