Northless is a four piece band from Milwaulkee, Wisconsin who formed in 2007. Northless plays an amazing style of music that incorporates elements of post metal, doom metal, and sludge within their sound. The band cites bands such as Neurosis, Khanate, Bloodlet, His Hero Is Gone, Will Haven, King Crimson, Breadwinner, Coalesce, Gorguts, Swans, Godflesh, Eyehategod, Crowbar, Soilent Green, and Drudkh as influences. To date, Northless have released a self titled demo in 2008, a split 7" with Protestant in 2009, a 12" entitled No Quarter For The Damaged in 2009, a six song cassette entitled Leaving The Wolves in 2010, contributed a song for the Inherent Records Vol. 1 compilation, an eight song LP entitled Clandestine Abuse in 2011, a split LP with London, UK's Lightbearer in 2012, and a 10" entitled Valley Of Lead in late 2012. World Keeps Sinking is the band's latest seven song LP, which is set for release via Halo Of Flies and Gilead Media on August 23, 2013. World Keeps Sinking is Northless' most ambitious album to date. World Keeps Sinking is a skulking, heavy, and calculated exercise in sheer brutality. World Keeps Sinking features seven new songs that run the gamut of styles when it comes to underground metal. Northless employs the use of doom metal, sludge, and post metal, which translates remarkably well to a cohesive approach in creating a truly heartwrenching and visceral album's worh of material. The standout track of the whole album is the fitfth song entitled Passage. This behemoth of a song runs over fifteen minutes in length and shows Northless adding melody to their sound, which is a departure of sorts for the band's usual heavy doom influenced sound. Vocals continue to be of the strained variety, which further compliments the band's dark and gloomy sound. Overall, World Keeps Sinking is a phenomenal album. Seriously, I can't begin to describe how good this album is.

Northless is a response to the erosion of the future. Drawing inspiration from numerous entities throughout the realm of dark & heavy sound, the members of this group have combined their own influences and personally diverse musical backgrounds into a concoction of progressive, dooming sludge metal. Great, shuddering washes of sound and texture. Pummeling rhythms. Sonic intensity.

In 2013, Northless will release what promises to be their most dense, heart wrenching album yet. World Keeps Sinking showcases the crippling heaviness that has become Northless’ trademark, but also expands on that aesthetic in a considerable manner. Each song boasts a new sense of melody and compositional precision that surpasses all prior Northless material, but without ever sacrificing the untamed aggression that gives them their signature sound. World Keeps Sinking comes from another place entirely. It comes from the Abyss, and it has come to show you the depths of humanity… to drag you down.
