Il collegio scelto da Valentina sembra uno di quelli ferrei; ma al contrario vi succede di tutto, tranne che di studiare: Anche Aristide, non riuscendo a stare lontano dalla consorte, escogita vari espedienti per avvicinarla, senza mai però riuscire nell'intento. Giunge finalmente il giorno degli esami, e tra gli esaminandi c'è anche Aristide, che, dietro pagamento, si è fatto inserire nell'elenco. Tra equivoci, liti, incomprensioni, minacce, nell'aula della commissione si crea un caos totale. Nel momento meno opportuno arriva in visita il ministro della pubblica istruzione e sorprende tutti in atteggiamento non molto conveniente. Il finale vede il più focoso dei professori dietro il banco della salumeria, con la preside del collegio alla cassa, Valentina tornata a casa, e Aristide sorridente a far da padrone su tutti.
