The Flim Flam brothers appear in Ponyville, selling a "magical curative tonic" they claim can remove any pony's ailments. After seeing one pony named Silver Shill get better on the spot after taking the drink, Granny Smith buys a bottle and finds herself rid of her aches and pains, allowing her to pursue her old aquabatic hobbies from her youth. Applejack goes behind the stage to discover the tonic is a placebo, and that Silver Shill is an actor in on Flim and Flam's scheme. The brothers guile Applejack into keeping quiet by pointing out Granny Smith's newfound happiness, and extract her approval for their product so they may continue selling it. After saving Granny Smith from performing a dangerous high dive stunt, however, Applejack reveals the truth of the fake tonic, forcing the brothers to flee the town. Silver Shill is touched by Applejack's honesty and gives her a refund for the tonic, promising to change his ways.
