Trama :

Sono giovani. Sono belli. Sono ... mutanti!!

Un progetto governativo segreto, il Genoma X, ha alterato alcuni soggetti umani trasformandoli in mutanti dagli straordinari poteri, lo splendido risultato dell'ingegneria genetica. Come molte altre centinaia di insospettabili individui, essi sono stati lasciati liberi di crescere fra la popolazione. Uno degli scienziati responsabili del progetto, il dottor Adam Kane, sta cercando di aiutare i mutanti ad imparare a convivere e ad affinare i loro poteri, mentre il suo socio, Mason Eckhart, vuole servirsi dei risultati del progetto per i suoi loschi fini.

Adam Kane mette insieme una squadra composta da quattro individui dalle incredibili capacità e forma il gruppo dei Mutant X, per aiutare i mutanti, ovunque essi siano, a sfuggire alla cattura della GSA, l'Agenzia per la Sicurezza Genetica comandata da Eckhart.

Shalimar Fox possiede la forza ed i riflessi di un felino, Brennan Mulwray assorbe e proietta l'elettricità, Emma deLauro controlla le emozioni e può creare dei proiettili di forza psichica. Infine, Jesse Kilmartin riesce ad incrementare o sciogliere la propria densità e quella degli oggetti che sfiora.

Sebbene non possieda poteri da mutante, Adam Kane è una vera e propria enciclopedia vivente nel campo della genetica, della medicina, dei computer ed è un esperto di arti marziali.
