Elliot Alderson works at Allsafe, a cyber security company. At night, he hacks social media accounts and bank records of his social contacts. He also uses his skills to hunt down criminals and delivers them to the police. E Corp (or, "Evil Corp"), a conglomerate and important customer of Allsafe, is hacked. Elliot can stop the attack and personally secures the evidence. On the subway, Elliot is approached by Mr. Robot. He is the leader of fsociety, the hacker group behind the cyber attack, who are operating from an abandoned seaside amusement park. Mr. Robot plans a digital revolution by deleting all of E Corp's debt records and convinces Elliot to join their cause and frame E Corp's CTO Terry Colby by manipulating the attack logs, instead of reporting fsociety to the authorities.
