In addition, the Roth Quartet repeated this ordering again in 1951 when they recorded this work for a second time. Pristine Classics, however - an online purveyor of "original recordings" - thought differently and positions the Andante as the third movement in their version of this recording. At any rate, that I've kept the Roth's positioning of the Andante is not an error - it's this way on all of the Roth's discs of this work. The listener is invited to try listening to this performance with the Andante as both second and third movement - to hear for themselves which positioning works best for the entire effect. ___________________________________ Transfers of above 78 rpm material.
