Distributed by PersonsUnknown This sound set is a battle between the legendary Roland TR-909 drum machine and some classic analog filters including a Moog Moogerfooger LPF, Sherman Filterbank 2 and the NIIO Analog Iotine Core. Here the 909 is processed in a number of ways ranging from subtle to completely tore up. Toms turn into basslines, loops become bubbling percussion and hi hats get razor sharp. Includes 513 one- shots of the entire kit ripped-up and mangled and 321 loops that contain combinations of soloed and grouped parts. This Jeff Mills autographed Roland 909 drum machine gets a workout from one of New York’s finest up and coming producers in the game. 513 drum hits and 322 loops refined and processed using various analog filters such as the sherman filterbank and the classic moog filter, among others. 24bit quality suitable for techno and house in all its forms. tempos range from 123 to 133 bpm. 524MB unzipped, 431 zipped. Professor Moffa, as his students at Purchase College’s Conservatory of Music (where he teaches music production) might call him, has built his life around music: The creation, discovery and performing of it, in all its many forms. A DJ, producer, and recording engineer, Moffa has a long resume of projects, all culminating in his most recent focus on the sounds of the NY techno movement. He released the “Atlantic Avenue” EP with Anthony Parasole last year, which was lauded on respected music sites Resident Advisor and Juno, and named one of Spin writer Philip Sherburne’s Top 20 tracks of 2012. “I don’t think I heard a greater volume of sub content on a single record this year,” said RA editor-in- chief Ryan Keeling. “It’s like, how did you get this much bass on a record?” His “Night Gallery EP” with DJ Spider on his Sublevel Sounds imprint also received praise from the site. Moffa lives around the corner from his own Butcha Sound Studios in New York City, a subterranean sonic laboratory filled with both vintage analog equipment and the latest in recording technology. It’s housed in the New York Recording & Rehearsal Arts Building, affectionately known as “The Music Building” by the thousands of artists that have rehearsed and recorded there since the ’70s. There Moffa mixes and masters for artists ranging from Kool Keith to The Martinez Brothers when not cooking up his own productions.
