A group of kids doing community service get struck by lightning during a storm, and begin to develop superpowers.

Nathan, Kelly, Simon, Alisha and Curtis were expecting their community service to be boring. However after a freak thunderstorm they discover that it is anything but dull. Bestowed with strange powers, the five very different teens realize they have a lot more to worry about than just picking up litter, especially as they discover that they are not the only ones who have been given strange powers. Misfits è una serie televisiva britannica di genere adolescenziale e fantastico che riguarda un gruppo di ragazzi costretti ai servizi sociali dopo essere stati arrestati per vari crimini minori, che ottengono però dei superpoteri dopo essere stati investiti da un fulmine durante uno strano temporale. Può essere classificata come teen drama per via delle vicende che riuniscono un gruppo di ragazzi comuni, già viste in serie come Skins o ai film di John Hughes, come The Breakfast Club.
Il canale inglese E4 ha trasmesso la prima stagione nel 2009, la seconda nel 2010 e la terza nell'autunno 2011. Il 16 dicembre 2011 è stata riportata la notizia del rinnovo per una quarta stagione.
La serie ha vinto il premio BAFTA come miglior serie drammatica del 2010

Rudy si unisce al gruppo di amici, ognuno dei quali ha acquistato un potere diverso: Kelly diventa un'esperta in ingegneria aerospaziale, Alisha può vedere attraverso gli occhi delle altre persone, Simon ha il dono della preveggenza e Curtis può cambiare sesso. Anche lo stesso Rudy ha un potere: può letteralmente sdoppiarsi, mantenendo due personalità distinte: una più timida e l'altra sfacciata.
