Mick Ronson - Indian Summer

The late Yorkshire-born guitarist Mick Ronson is considered a lost genius. This album is therefore a chanced-upon treasure trove for fans. The tracks were discovered labelled as film music and are basically unused pieces for a movie that was never made. The title track is known to have been considered for his Heaven and Hull album. At one point since it was recorded in 1981, the material was rumoured to be released under the title Death On Tinker Street (which makes the appearance even more mysterious and fascinating!). What you get is a disc with 12 lengthy pieces sequenced together to flow like a soundtrack might have done. But disc two is an even bigger source of mystery - it's a compilation of the music with "test dialogue" and effects over the top. Altogether this is a curioso that will certainly appeal to guitar fans, but with extremely vague packaging, soundtrack fans may be flummoxed by a film that doesn't exist.
