* UPDATED *

MARTIN BUBER (1878-1965) was an Austrian-born Jewish philosopher and one of the paramount spiritual leaders of the twentieth century. He is best known for his philosophy of dialogue, a form of existentialism centered on the distinction between the I-Thou relationship and the I-It relationship.

Buber's appeal is vast -- not only is he renowned for his translations of the Hebrew Bible but also for his interpretation of Hasidism, his role in Zionism, and his writings in psychotherapy and political philosophy.

This collection has been updated to include TALES OF THE HASIDIM, Buber’s classic compilation of the oral and written legends of the Hasidic masters.

With the exception of TALES OF THE HASIDIM, the following books are in PDF format:

* BETWEEN MAN AND MAN (Routledge Classics, 2002). Translated by Ronald Gregor-Smith, with an introduction by Maurice Friedman.

* GOOD AND EVIL (Scribners, 1953).

* I AND THOU, 2nd edn. (Scribners, 1958). Translated by Ronald Gregor Smith. See also Note below.

* THE LEGEND OF THE BAAL-SHEM (Routledge, 2002). Translated by Maurice Friedman.

* POINTING THE WAY: COLLECTED ESSAYS (Harper & Bros., 1957). Translated and edited by Maurice Friedman.

* THE PROPHETIC FAITH (Harper & Row, 1960). Translated by Carlyle Witton-Davies.

* TALES OF THE HASIDISM, 2 vols. (Schocken, 1991). With a new Foreword by Chaim Potok. -- EPUB

* TEN RUNGS: COLLECTED HASIDIC SAYINGS (Routledge, 2002). Translated by Olga Marx.

* TWO TYPES OF FAITH (Macmillan, 1951). Translated by Norman P. Goldhawk.

* THE WRITINGS OF MARTIN BUBER (Meridian, 1956). Selected, edited and introduced by Will Herberg.
