Rabid Dogs [Working Title: "L'uomo e il bambino">
is an Italian film directed by Mario Bava. It was
made in 1974 but the film was seized by the courts
during the final stages of production when the
producer went bankrupt after the main investor in
the film died in a car crash.

Rabid Dogs came about from the critical rejection
of Lisa and the Devil* and Bava's desire to prove
to his peers tht he could direct a crime film just
as good as they could.
(*He took the rejection personally, even though I
cannot see why? It was an Exorcist rip-off and it
mostly got panned because of that and the eventual
comparisons to the Friedkin masterpiece.)

Transfer by Arrow Films:
This transfer is a composite made from the newly
restored "Kidnapped" (at the time) and two Standard
Definition tapes that made up pretty much what was
left to work with. The quality varies throughout
due to the use of the SD tapes. Great care was
taken to restore it as close as possible to Bava's
original film - frame by frame. The subtitles have
been brought up to date with modern language usage
and not the antiquated usage of the film's original
time period. The audio did not come out all that
great either because of the mixed work and the
quality of the source material. It was released in
November 2013.

This is the Arrow Films version of "Rabid Dogs"
straight from blu-ray. This is not "Kidnapped"!

STORY:

A gang of thieves hijack a man's car after botching
their getaway from a robbery. They take a woman
prisoner and command the man to drive them to
safety. The man must try to cope with the bad
situation he is in as well as trying to get help
for a sick child that he is caring for.
