Maria Muldaur (born September 12, 1943 in Greenwich Village, New York) is a folk-blues singer who was part of the American folk music revival in the early 1960s. She is best known for the 1974 hit song "Midnight at the Oasis," has recorded numerous albums over the past 5 decades, and continues to perform in her unique and exciting folk-blues style.

Muldaur began her career in the early 1960s as Maria D'Amato, performing with John Sebastian, David Grisman, and Stefan Grossman as a member of the Even Dozen Jug Band. She then joined Jim Kweskin & His Jug Band as a featured vocalist and occasional violinist. During this time, she was part of the Greenwich Village scene that included Bob Dylan, and some of her recollections of the period, particularly with respect to Dylan, appear in Martin Scorsese's 2005 documentary film, No Direction Home. She married fellow Jug Band member Geoff Muldaur, and after the Kweskin outfit broke up the two of them produced two albums. She began her solo career when their marriage ended in 1972, but retained her married name.

It also peaked at number 21 in the UK Singles Chart. The album, which peaked at #3 on The Billboard 200, was certified gold on May 13, 1974

Sweet Harmony – 1976

While Maria Muldaur's solo debut album was a brilliant piece of work, it was with her third recording "Sweet Harmony" that she hit her stride. An eclectic mix of musical styles that swept its way through many genres, "Sweet Harmony" was (and is) nothing short of brilliant. She is joined on this album by many noted musicians, among them Linda Ronstadt on the beautiful rendition of the Smokey Robinson song for which the album is titled, and songwriter Hoagy Carmichael on Rocking Chair.

A Woman Alone With The Blues - 2003

Maria Muldaur pays respect to the great Peggy Lee, with A Woman Alone With The Blues, devoted to twelve of Lee's great songs. Starting this record with the great classic "Fever," Maria makes this cool, sexy song her own.

Peggy Lee's recording of "Fever" was one of Muldaur's favorites as far back as the early 1960s. She recalls "playing it often on jukeboxes in various bars in Greenwich Village. One night I decided to play the B-side on the jukebox. It was a song entitled 'I'm a Woman,' done in the same style as 'Fever.' I instantly fell in love with it and played it repeatedly, at least a dozen times! I remember scribbling down all the lyrics on a napkin. When I got home, I picked up the guitar and fooled around with the few blues licks and chords I knew how to play and turned the song into a funky little R&B tune that became, and has remained, my theme song for over forty years."

Naughty, Bawdy, and Blue – 2007

Maria Muldaur's journey through the back pages of American popular music continues with her exploration of the racier side of the blues, in which she's accompanied by the authentically 1920s and '30s-sounding band of jazz preservationist Jim Dapogny. Joined on "Separation Blues" by Bonnie Raitt, herself no slouch as a blues singer, Muldaur navigates the earthy insinuations of "Handy Man," the teasing "One Hour Mama," and the voluptuous "Early Every Morn," breathing new life into these raunchy classics and making them her own.
