The 6 groups on this LP give a good impression of what was going

on in early 70's in Mali. It includes the legendary Rail Band with Salif Keita performing. Most of these recordings were made shortly after the 1970 bi-annual festival in Bamako. This is music for a local audience and certainly sounds of ‘another world’. You may need to give this album time if you’re not accustomed to this sound, however you’ll soon realise that this is a very special album, big recommendation.Oh and Orchestre Regional Segou won the best band award.
