MAC - Suomi itkee

MAC was not a successful band in 1981 when they released their singles "Suomi itkee / Ylistyslaulu virvoitusjuomalle" and "Joo joo joo / Metropoliitta", but now these 7"s are valuable to collectors thanks to lead man Pertti "Neumann" Nieminen's and bandmate Pepe Laaksonen's later popularity in rock band Dingo.

Dingo put out 3 albums in 1984-1986 and they produced a mass hysteria that can only be compared to Beatlemania. The second LP "Kerjäläisten valtakunta" (1985) broke the Finnish sales record, and it's fantastic to note that their songs still sound good to this day.

MAC were a more unfortunate attempt, because the lyrics for "Suomi itkee" were considered touchy, and the song received a radio ban. However, the talent can be glimpsed on these songs.

Here's the complete "Suomi itkee" single, plus "Metropoliitta" which I ripped from a compilation LP. "Joo joo joo" is a song I'm still on the look-out for...
