He is the son of Mexican parents from Guanajuato, Mexico. Luis Gasca is a powerful and determined trumpeter. He flits easily between Rock, Blues, Jazz and Latin Jazz. Between a vibrant, deep sound, lyrical melody and free form. No matter what the scenario, when he's present, the result is always the same, Pure Energy! He has played with Count Basie, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Santana, Mongo Santamaría, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead to name but a few. This particular album features a lot of the Santana line-up from the Santana III album and a young Stanley Clarke.
