Luigi Rossi - Two Oratorios - Christie, Les Arts Florissants (1982) [Philidor FLAC] (Size: 268.56 MB)
Description
The 17th century composer Luigi Rossi made his mark in Naples, Rome, and Paris. He was known for the quality of his operas, oratorios, and chamber cantatas. Fortunately, a great deal of his music was preserved thanks to his wealthy patrons. His works traveled widely in his lifetime, through Northern Europe and England, as well as France, Spain, and the Italian States. He was regarded as a master not only of counterpoint, but of thematic beauty and insightful characterization. Much of his output remains in manuscript, unfortunately.
