La Ballade des Dalton is a Lucky Luke adventure. A 1978 animated film from France written
by Goscinny and Morris. Two different adaptations into book form were both published in French
in 1978. The first, adapted by Guy Vidal, was in text form rather than comic strip, and was
accompanied by images from the film. The second was a comic strip adaptation by an uncredited
Pascal Dabere and formed part of the book, La Ballade des Dalton et autres histoires
(The Ballad of the Daltons and Other Stories).

Bohaterski Lucky Luke po raz kolejny odwozi notorycznych Braci Daltonów do więzienia. Tam na miejscu
dowiadują się oni, że ich wuj Henry umarł z przyczyn naturalnych (złapali go i powiesili). Nie są tym
specjalnie przejęci, gdyż teraz odziedziczą jego wielką fortunę. Jest jednak warunek - muszą zabić
jego przysięgłych i sędziego. To nie wydaje się stanowić dla czwórki oprychów problemu, gdyż nie takie
rzeczy już robili - jedyny problem to, że zgodnie z testamentem wujka wypełnienia zadania ma dopilnować
najbardziej uczciwy i honorowy człowiek, jakiego znał czyli... Lucky Luke. Daltonowie, za którymi podąża
więzienny pies Rin-Tin-Dam uciekają z celi, łapią Luka w zasadzkę i postanawiają go zmusić by jako
świadek uczestniczył z nimi w tej pełnej przygód wyprawie...
