Emily " Jacks " Jackson ( Brittany Murphy ) is a cheerful and energetic young American . She lives in London and works in the fashion magazine Vogue . Hyperactive , never stops talking and has specialty arranging " perfect couple " to his close friends : Tallulah Wentworth ( Catherine Tate ) , neurotic huntress of men , and Simon Peter ( Matthew Rhys ) , aspiring writer gay , with whom she shares the apartment . Jacks boasting the best gay city for radar and makes Peter the chief object of their matchmaking plots . When the Sarmiento attractive Paolo ( Santiago Cabrera ) starts working on the magazine as a model studio, Jacks arm decides to join the two . Only Paolo is not gay and is interested in Jacks .
