Description
LOOK BACK IN ANGER (1959)
Brooding, explosive, drama set in rainy, working class, late 50s Britain. Richard Burton stars as the original ‘angry young man’ in Tony Richardson’s stark and provocative visualization of John Osborne’s classic play. Regarded as the first of the British ‘New wave kitchen sink dramas’ that swept the sixties, ‘Look Back In Anger’ (1959) was also Tony Richardson’s directorial debut, and the very reason that famed production company, Woodfall Pictures, was originally created (apparently at producer Harry Saltzman’s behest). Beautifully photographed by Oswald Morris, and sporting a stunning cast of the best British (and, of course, Welsh) actors of their day, ‘Look Back In Anger’ remains a dark and powerful portrayal of early British working class life. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find a decent copy of this seminal kitchen sink drama anywhere in torrent land so here it is, in all it’s pouting, moody, rainy, depressingly brilliant, glory. French and Spanish subtitles included. I also include a sample. ‘LOOK BACK IN ANGER’ (1959) Directed by Tony Richardson Screenplay by Nigel Kneale Additional Dialogue by John Osborne From the play by John Osborne Produced by Harry Saltzman and Gordon Scott Music by Chris Barber Cinematography by Oswald Morris Edited by Richard Best CAST Richard Burton Claire Bloom Mary Ure Edith Evans Gary Raymond Glen Byam Shaw Phyllis Neilson-Terry Donald Pleasence BLACK AND WHITE BRITISH 99 mins 41 secs UK:PG (DVD rating) / UK:X (original rating) 1.66:1 VIDEO H264 MPEG-4 718 X 392 24 FPS PLANAR 4:2:0 YUV AUDIO MPEG AAC ENGLISH STEREO 48000 HZ 256 kb/s AUDIO 2 A52 (ac3 passthru) ENGLISH STEREO 48000 HZ 192 kb/s SUBTITLES: French and Spanish (soft) If you enjoyed this film, please support the artists by buying from wherever you can find it, or maybe even lobby the studio for the Blu-Ray restoration ‘Look Back in Anger’ sincerely deserves!
