This book got me through the first computer hardware engineering class at Illinois. The examples and material were immediately applicable to what we were doing and proved invaluable to our group, as having read this book alone gave me the ability to design hardware for a specialized computer as our semester project. The text was not assigned and the class had only course notes. I skipped class and read this book instead and Muah teammates were taking my cues. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know how computers actually work.
