Un medico è stato ucciso, con una pugnalata, nel suo appartamento. Da concordi testimonianze risulta che la sera del delitto la vittima è rientrata insieme ad una bella ed elegante signorina, che è uscita qualche tempo dopo. Varie persone l'hanno vista: non è quindi difficile identificarla. E' una ragazza impiegata come venditrice in uno spaccio dell'associazione dei Medici. Interrogata, essa può presentare un alibi inattaccabile; ma dall'interrogatorio risulta che essa ha una sorella gemella, che le assomiglia in modo da poter essere scambiata con lei. E' evidente che una delle due è l'assassina, ma quale delle due?
