"Leeds United - For 10 golden years the very name struck fear into opponents throughout Britain and Europe.



A defence that proved almost unbreakable - Big Jack Charlton and Norman Hunter strong and solid at the back; the two midfield dynamos of Billy Bremner and Johnny Giles, small in stature but giants on the pitch; on the wing the mercurial Eddie Gray, considered by some to be George Best's equal; and plundering goals up front, 'Sniffer' Allan Clarke and the big and brave Mick Jones.



After promotion, Leeds came so close so often before that magical season in 1967/8 when Terry Cooper's goal clinched the League Cup at Wembley and Mick Jones got the only goal in the Fairs Cup Final.



But better was to come - 2 League championships, that marvellous day when Allan Clarke won the FA Cup, and more success in Europe.
