Komornik (2005) The Collector http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480163/ Lucek Bohme, a successful repo man, has a crisis of faith, character, and existence in Feliks Falk's Komornik. Andrzej Chyra ... Chelst Arkadiusz Orpinski Lucek walks into people's homes or businesses (or hospitals) and repossesses their valuables because they haven't paid their dues to the government. Even though he's acting on behalf of a court order, he suffers the brunt of popular resentment because he's perceived as the face of a hated, faceless entity. After all, it's easier to focus one's anger on an active, known individual than on a passive, intangible group. Although he's not as sleazy and corrupt as the bureaucrats around him are—or perhaps because of it—everyone, other than the bureaucrats he does the dirty work for, hates him. Lucek has a simple philosophy. He works with maximum efficiency and peace of mind because he is wholly detached from his job. Instead of getting emotionally involved in the lives of his "victims", he maintains a cold, impressive objectivity. Despite Lucek's attempts to stay objective, he cannot do so because he belongs to the same world as the people whose repossessions he carries out: as a human, as a Pole, as a Catholic, etc. Therefore, Lucek can never be as objective as he wants to be; objectivity is inhuman. He can only keep up a self-delusion of objectivity and detachment for as long as he is able to subdue his feelings of compassion and guilt. When those feelings take over, however, Lucek breaks down.
