DescriptionTeenage Dream is the third studio album by American recording artist Katy Perry, released on August 24, 2010, by Capitol Records. Its music incorporates pop and rock styles with elements of disco, electronic music, funk, house, gothic rock, Hi-NRG, and hip hop; its themes focus on teenage love, partying, self-empowerment, and personal growth. On top of co-writing every song on the album, Perry worked with a multitude of producers and writers, including Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Tricky Stewart, Stargate, Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, Ester Dean, and The-Dream. Upon its release, Teenage Dream received generally mixed reviews from music critics, who complimented its production and theme whlie denouncing the lyrical content. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 192,000 copies in its first week. It was later certified two times platinum by the RIAA; selling more than 2.6 million copies in the United States. It has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide. The album and its singles, earned Perry seven Grammy award nominations including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Record of the Year, as well as winning International Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2011. Its first five singles "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T.", and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100; the sixth "The One That Got Away" peaked at number three. Teenage Dream is the second album in history to have five number ones from one album (after Michael Jackson's Bad), the first by a female to achieve this milestone and the third album in history to produce eight top five hits.
