For ten years she served as the Director of Liberal Arts Career Services for The University of Texas at Austin, and prior to that was the Director of Career Services for Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. She recently received the Kauffman Award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers for her contributions to the career services field. She was also named one of the "10 Most Visionary" people in career services in a survey by CSO Research. She has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Gettysburg College, and a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling and a doctorate in educational psychology from West Virginia University.
