Description
Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger was both a celebrated lute and chittarone performer, and a widely respected 17th century composer. He was fortunate in securing the patronage of one of the most powerful, music-loving figures of the Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal Francesco Barberini, for whom he worked over 20 years. During that time he wrote a great deal of music--not all of for plucked strings, though the vast amount of that has survived as his major legacy, today. This selection features Paul O'Dette, one of the leading lutenists of our time. Bio and images included.
