Since version 10.0.0 this package contains both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs.
It is no longer necessary to install 64-bit codecs separately.

Previous versions
The update pack above is only capable of updating a recent version of the codec pack.
To update an older version you need to install the latest version of the complete installer (K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1071_Full).
Once that is installed, you can install the update above if necessary.

The complete installers can be used to update any version of the codec pack.
You can simply install on top of your current installation.
The installer will automatically notify you if it is needed to uninstall the old version first, and offers to do that automatically.

Note: Run installers as administrator.

Tips for improving video quality
This is a tip for anyone who has an Intel or AMD/ATI graphics card. These manufacturers enable certain video 'enhancement' features by default in their drivers. The problem is that those features actually reduce quality instead of making things better.
It is thus recommended to disable these features. This should improve both quality and performance. You can find the relevant options in the control panel of your graphics card. You can usually find a shortcut to that control panel by right-clicking on your Desktop. Options that you should disable are: "Noise reduction", "Adaptive contrast", "Dynamic Contrast", "Edge Enhancement", and "Skin Tone Enhancement". The number of options and their names can vary depending on the manufacturer and driver version.
If you got a powerful graphics card then you could also try madVR in combination with MPC-HC. madVR is an advanced video renderer that is able to produce better quality than the standard renderers from Windows. Configuring madVR for optimal quality/performance can be a bit complex for novice users, so we only recommend using it if you got a decent amount of computer knowledge.
